TODAY'S ACTIVITIES:
Make sure you have completed everything through yesterday's assignment listed on the blog. I will be doing spot checks today, so make sure you are working on your simulation packet.


1) I will review and make sure everyone is up to date and understands what is going on.
2) Continue working on your simulation packet.

You are going to have to READ EVERYTHING ON EACH PAGE IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO. PLEASE READ AND APPLY WHAT YOU KNOW!!

You will need to read all the information at the top of each section so you understand the background of what you are doing.

Pg. 4-6 (numbers1-4 and 1-11 will all be written on Form 2.8) Skip the THINK IT THROUGH

3) yesterday's assignment: You need to complete pages 3-6 (top of page)

Today's new assignment:
Complete pages 6-14 (stop when you get to the Think it through. That would be October 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17,18 and 19.

For Those absent on Monday:
1) Ask Ashlee where your simulation packets are (2nd shelf of grey aluminum book shelf)
2) Read the blog post for Monday, May 5
3) Complete the assignments listed on Monday's blog
4) Begin working on the simulation packet. If you aren't sure where to begin, ask for help.

TUESDAY, MAY 6:
1) Get out your simulation packet
2) Get out the Instructions & Forms book
3) Get out something to write with (IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS IN PENCIL, YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO DO SO)
4) Read the Special Topic section on page 2: How a Budget Puts You in Control
5) Go to your blog. Blog post title: How a Budget Puts You in Control
Post to your blog --> Type a two-sentence to four-sentence summary of the Special Topic section on page 2: How a Budget Puts You in Control.
6) Finish form 1 (we started it together on page 3)
7) Begin working on the rest of the packet, starting on page 4. You are going to have to READ EVERYTHING ON EACH PAGE IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT TO DO. PLEASE READ AND APPLY WHAT YOU KNOW!! You will need to read all the information at the top of each section so you understand the background of what you are doing.

Pg. 4-6 (numbers1-4 and 1-11 will all be written on Form 2.

8) Skip the THINK IT THROUGH

9) You need to complete pages 3-6 (top of page)

10) Read the bottome of page 6 and top of bpage 7. This explains what you will be doing to recorde Ryan's transactions. You will need the Financial Record book and the Checkbook and Register to work pages 7 - 10 (transactions for October 1, 2nd and 3rd). USE A PENCIL TO DO EVERYTHING IN THIS PACKET, IT WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF TROUBLE IN THE LONG RUN.

REMEMBER YOU CAN USE THE CUTTING BOARD, LOCATED ON THE SMALL TEACHER DESK TO CUT YOUR FORMS.

Happy Cinco de May!

TODAY'S AGENDA:

1) (1st 10 minutes) Post your weekly work schedule to your blog. (THIS IS A DAILY GRADE)
Title of blog post should be: Work Schedule #34

2) Get out something to write with and you will need a sheet of paper to write on

3) Discuss and setup for Simulation Packet
Review writing a check.
This simulation requires 18-22 hours to complete (we don't have all of that class time), so there may be times when I will assign for you to work on this simulation packet outside of class.

You will be required to bring this packet to class EVERY SINGLE DAY. If you don't bring it to class, it will be a zero each day you don't bring it.

TOMORROW:
You must bring your simulation packe to class, you will be working on it all period. You will also be leaving it in class for a daily grade check.

Schedule for the next few weeks:
  • May 5th-16th we will work on a simulation packet that you will have 2 weeks to complete.
  • May 19th - 23rd we will do resumes and job employment stuff you will need for the future (Simulation packets will be do no later than May 21st)
  • May 27th - 30th we will FINALIZE ALL OF OUR PAPER WORK (calculate all work hours: must = 540 for full credit) and BE DONE FOR THE YEAR. (VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ARE ARE HERE EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!)
  • Semester Exam will be the average of all of your Employer evaluations. Unless yall would rather take a test???

Thursday, April 24:
* You will be working on a packet that reviews Chapter 21. Please do the best you can and complete the whole worksheet. You may need to use your textbooks to help you fill it out correctly. The book will help you.
* The sub will be passing out the worksheet packets to you.
* Worksheet is due by the end of the period today.
* The sub will also give you your "pass" that I sent to the teachers for excused absences next week.

Friday, April 25:
* You will be reading an article about car insurance and typing a summary.
* The sub will be passing out the articles to you. DO NOT write on the articles.
* You will be typing a summary in WORD about the important points and what you learned from the article.
* Double Space your document and full justify your document
* It must be printed out and turned in to the 3rd period turn in tray by the end of the period today.
* Turn your article handout back in to the sub at the end of the period today.

Monday, April 28:
* post your weekly schedule on your blog. It is week #33.
Be sure to title your blog post Week #33 Work Schedule.
* You are going to do a worksheet packet.
* You can write on this paper.
* To complete the 1st page, use the handout that is directly behind the first page.
* Fill in the Resume worksheet (page 3) with your real information. You can put information from 9th-12th grade. You can list awards, honors, and activities that you have done inside and outside of school.
* There is an example of a resume stapled directly behind the Resume Worksheet
* The last page, poses some questions to you. I would like for you to answer the questions that last page in the space provided for you. It is a good time to reflect and write down your thoughts and feelings.
* This packet must be completed by the end of the period today. Place your packet in the 3rd period turn in tray at the end of the peirod TODAY (whether done or not done). Something is better than nothing.

You will receive a daily grade and a test grade for each assignment, each day.

TODAY'S AGENDA:

2) 5th Six Weeks Time Sheet is DUE TOMORROW (worth = 3 grades)
3) Discuss the next few days. Get information about Wednesday and next weeks TAKS testing.

MUST DOs FOR TODAY:
4) Those of you who have not done your taxes for a grade (you will work with me for a few minutes to complete that task.
5) Those absent on Friday need to go to my blog posting for the 18th and complete the work that was assigned (Chapter 20 and Chapter 21 worksheets)
6) If you have completed everything, study and go over how to fill out a W-4 form and to complete your taxes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • I am so very sorry about this guys. Madison is just not well. I have got to take her in to the doctor and let them look at her. I am really, really worried about her. I am so sorry about this.
  • The taxes assignment will not count on the 5th six weeks since there are several of you who have not completed it yet. We will still take a test over how to complete your taxes and a W-4 form on Tuesday, April 22nd.

TODAY'S ASSIGNMENTS:
I have a couple of assignments I would like for you to work on today. I would like for you to complete them. They don't take very long at all. Once you are done with these two assignments you can have free time.

Print out both pages. Complete both pages of the activity except for the Extension Exercise.

* Staple all 4 pages together. Put your name on it, and place it in the 3rd period turn in tray.


SCHEDULE FOR NEXT 5 WEEKS: Please read the following information about the next two weeks. You will need to make some decisions about coming to school and I will need to know Tuesday, April 22nd so that I can prepare the excused absence emails.

  • Monday, April 21 - catch up Taxes and other assignments
  • Tuesday, April 22 - preparing taxes TEST and prep for the next few days
  • Wednesday, April 23 - TAKS tutorials until 12:30 pm; classes 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th (I will need to know what each of you plan to do that day)
  • Thursday, April 24 - I will be gone (out of the country), you will work on Chapter 22 (last chapter we will do)
  • Friday, April 25 - I will be gone (out of the country), you will work on Chapter 22
  • Monday, April 28 - I will be gone (out of the country), you will work on Chapter 22 (chapter work must be completed and turned in OR zeroes will be given {no ifs, ands, or buts) - this will be a regular school day

As of today we will have TAKS tutorials tomorrow from 8:42 - 12:30 pm. We are meeting 4th period by halls. A, C, & D wings will go to lunch at 12:30 pm then have 4th period. B, E, F & everyone else will go to lunch at 1:05 after haven been in 4th period since 12:30 pm. 5th period will begin at 1:40.


I will get everyone excused for this day if you want the extra work time. Or you can come and do what is planned for the seniors that day. "Asset" testing for those who haven't taken it. AP classes are having "seminars" (you are supposed to go to those). ????? for everyone else.


I need to know today what you are doing and how you are going to spend your time off if you plan not to come to school. (WE WILL DISCUSS THIS ALTOGETHER)

If you have not turned in pay check stubs, W-2 forms, pay check record sheet, Weekly Work Hours sheet - you MUST GET THOSE TURNED IN ASAP. I AM MISSING A LOT.

You receive a grade each week for the following items:
* posting your weekly schedule to your blog
* coming to school or calling me if going to be out; following school rules and abiding by the Professional Development guidelines as stated in your DCP manual


Grades are terrible - i have so much missing work.

Tomorrow you do not have to come to school at all unless you need to go to TAKS tutorials, AP seminars, or are planning on going on that field trip. Your absences will be school related and will not count against you.

Today we will be working on the TAX packet. Make sure you have something to write with. We will do this all together.

Thursday - Friday we will be doing our TAXES all together. MAKE SURE EVERYONE IS HERE! I WILL NOT REPEAT THIS ASSIGNMENT.

EVERYONE MUST BE HERE ON MONDAY AS WELL; BECAUSE I WILL BE INTRODUCING A PROJECT THAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON THE NEXT TWO WEEKS - IN CLASS!!!

Some of you owe me a lot of stuff. I have several of you that I need to talk to. I want to provide you some time to work on your "POSTER PROJECTS".

Whether you have your pictures, posters, etc here, you can start planning out how you will be laying out your pictures, what you will be writing for the picture captions. REMEMBER YOUR POSTER PROJECTS ARE DUE MARCH 17TH. THAT IS THE MONDAY WE GET BACK FROM SPRING BREAK. DON'T FORGET THEM. YOU HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE ABOUT THIS ASSIGNMENT IF YOU WANT TO PASS IT.

  • Complete the following practice test: go to the following link http://www.glencoe.com/sec/careers/swow/student/tests.shtml Click on the Chapter 19 link. Take test. Print out test once you complete. Put your name on it and turn in to turn in tray. ( I only received this from 6 people.) If you are one of those 6 people, take the practice test again to try and increase your score in preparation for Chapter 19 test.

3) If you are finished with everything, you may have a little free time. but make sure you have EVERYTHING FINISHED AND UP TO DATE.

2) Update your Weekly Six Sheets through yesterday's date. Make sure your 4th Six Weeks Time Sheet paper is in your folder by the end of the period today. I will be grading this weekend.

4) Begin Unit on Economics and money

I need some time. I do not want to do what I had planned yesterday, since I will not see you tomorrow. I need to get things set up for next week, because of testing, and that requires me to explain some stuff to you as well has get some information from each of you.

Therefore, I will take up about 15 minutes of your time and then the rest of the period I want you to make sure you completed everything you were to complete yesterday. All folders must be complete by the end of the period on Friday.

I will not see any of you tomorrow. I need to give some of you passes to get out tomorrow. (I will explain.

New students, you need to make sure you have a blog set up and then send me a comment today telling me what your blog url is.

I will give more information orally during class.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I hope everyone had a great break and made lots of money.

TODAY'S AGENDA:
1) Log on, check out blog for assignments
2) Update folders with the following items:
  • pay check stub copies
  • update your pay check stub record sheet
  • complete 3rd six weeks time sheet (MUST BE TURNED IN TO FOLDER, NO LATER THAN THURSDAY)
  • make sure you have a 4th six weeks time sheet
  • fill in the first week (1st line) of the 4th six weeks time sheet
  • begin the second week (2nd line) if you have worked Sun or Mon of this week
  • 1st six weeks & 2nd six weeks time sheets, if missing from folder

3) New Post to your blog (title it: Week 18 Work Schedule)

Then list your weekly work schedule for this week Sun 1/6 - Sat 1/12

4) We have new students that we will all need to help orient with our forms, procedures, creating a blog, posting to the blog etc. I will need everyone's help in with this task.

5) Slow start back, so we can get files up to date and everyone back on the same page.

NOTE: 4th Six Weeks time sheet will be due on February 25th

Tomorrow: We will go over the last 8 columns of the six weeks time sheet documents and the pay check stub record sheet (I need to clarify a few things). If you have not brought in your pay check stub copies, or are missing a bunch; please make sure you have those with you tomorrow in class.
