STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

TODAY'S ACTIVITIES:
1) You will be taking your Chapter 20/Chapter 23 test.
2) I expect you not to cheat. The sub will be watching you very closely.
3) You may not use any notes or your neighbor. I expect you to be quiet until all students are finished taking their test so everyone has a quiet testing environment.
4) After you complete your exam, make sure you click the SUBMIT button when you are finished taking the test.
5) Once you are done, if you don't owe me any other work, you may have free time.

ACTIVITY #1: (this shouldn't take you more than 20-30 minutes)
Complete the following items as listed below, in the order listed below.
  1. You need to click on this link --> http://www.glencoe.com/sec/careers/swow/student/practices.shtml
  2. A website will open.
  3. Locate Chapter 23.
  4. Find the link to the business that is listed under Chapter 23.
  5. DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK TO THAT BUSINESS; IT WON'T TAKE YOU TO THAE ACTUAL WEBSITE. Instead, copy the link and paste it in the address bar of a new Internet Explorer window.
  6. You will need to click on the Community Tab.
  7. In another Internet Explorer Window, pull up your blog and Log on to it.
  8. You will be making a new post. The title of this new post is --> Ch. 23 Creative Business Practices
  9. Then scroll down to find the section of this blog post titled Ch. 23 Creative Business Practices, copy and paste the questions in to your new blog post.
  10. Then read the website information under the Community Tab and answer the questions you just copied and pasted in to your new blog post.
  11. This post must be published to your blog TODAY. I will be grading them later tonight.

ACTIVITIES #2 & 3:
Complete the following items as listed below, in the order listed below.

  1. I want you to study Chapter 23 for about 10-15 minutes by playing Rags to Riches --> http://www.quia.com/rr/316357.html
  2. Once you have gotten to $1,000,000 at least once I want you to click on this link --> http://www.glencoe.com/qe/qe55.php?qi=1459 and study Chapter 20 for about 10 minutes.

NOTES:

  • The test is 50 questions. Each question will be worth 2 points. I do not want anyone to fail this exam. THEREFORE, YOU ALL BETTER STUDY!!!
  • Adrianna - you will not be resposible for the Chapter 20 questions on the test, but if you do study it and take the Chapter 20 porition of the test, I will give you bonus points.
  • I have your folders with me. If you have not turned in your 4th Six Weeks time sheet you need to do that today!
  • Remember for every day it is late, it is 10 points off. You can place it in the 3rd period turn in box.
  • STUDY FOR THIS EXAM. DON'T WASTE YOUR CLASS PERIOD TODAY!!

Ch. 23 Creative Business Practices

Copy the following questions. Paste them to your new blog post and answer each of the questions.

1. Why is this company closed on Sunday's?

2. When did the founder make the decision to close on Sunday's?

3. What does the founder's son (the bald man that comes out and talks) like to say why they close on Sunday's? (hint: watch the video; if it doesn't work in the lab be sure to tell me that in your post)

4. How long has this company been in business?

5. Other than serving fresh and delicious food, what else does their mission state that they strive to do.

6. Is this company a franchise?

Click on the Cows tab and answer the following questions.

  1. Why cows?
  2. When did this campaign begin?
  3. What is this company's slogan?

Bonus: Look at the slide show and tell me which poster is your favorite. Be sure to include what it says.

  2. A PDF file will open. You need to print it out. Get it off the printer, write your name on it and complete it. WORKSHEET IS DUE TODAY BY THE END OF THE PERIOD. Do everything but the Extension Exercise.
  3. Once you turn your completed worksheet in to the 3rd period turn in box, I want you to study Chapter 20 for about 10 minutes by playing Rags to Riches --> http://www.quia.com/rr/316011.html

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS:

* By now you should know that whether I tell you, or post it in a blog every Monday or Tuesday (which ever is the first day of the week) you are to post to your blog, in a new post~titled Week# Weekly Schedule (actually put the correct week #) and then post what your weekly work schedule is for that week. If you don't know what your schedule is, create the new post, title it the correct title and then tell me that you do not know what your schedule is. Then on the next day look for a comment to be posted to your blog from me. If you are absent on the first day of the week, then post your schedule the very same day you return to school.


* If you do not understand the above stated expectation, then please come see me and I will verbally explain it.

* There are still too many of you being absent and not letting me know. I take off 25 points for your Professional Development grade for the week. If it persists from week to week, I increase the deduction made. You must call me if you are going to be absent. And some of you HAVE GOT TO STOP BEING ABSENT. If yall were my employees, many of you would have already been fired.

TODAY'S AGENDA:

Items 1, 2, 3, & 4 listed below must be completed within the first 20 minutes of class. We will be working all together on some work after that 20 minutes. Be ready.

Then list your schedule for this week. If you don't know it, then you have got to put something in the post letting me know when you will get your schedule and then check for comments to that post the next day.


2) I must have your 4th six weeks Weekly Time Sheet TODAY. Today it is a 100%; 10 points off for every day it is late.

Simply match the word with the definition. It's basically concentration.
Play several times until you get through all of the definitions. Your daily participation grade will be based on whether or not you complete this activitity and how long you play for. I should see you playing this at some point this period on your computer.
